Kenneth L. Pitman

Kenneth L. Pitman, Sr., 76, of Cambria, formerly of Tamaroa, passed away at 12:45 P.M., Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at his residence.

Kenneth had worked as an operator for thirty years at Phelps Dodge and Cabelec.  He was a member of the Tamaroa Pentecostal Church.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of Korea and Vietnam.
He was born July 17, 1931 at Scheller, IL, the son of Finley S. and Grace (Loucks) Pitman.
He married Edna Haycraft on August 31, 1959 at Tamaroa, IL and she preceded him in death in January of 2001.

He is survived by five children - Kenneth Pitman, Jr. of Granite City, IL, Frances Reinschmidt of Cambria, IL, Alice Wise of Denver, CO, Alfred Pitman of Du Quoin, and Nigel Pitman of Nashville, IL, ten grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three sisters - Becky Taylor, Helen Cowley, and Annabelle Pitman, and three brothers.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M., Friday, June 27, 2008 at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa with Rev. Jackie Joe Davison officiating.

Friends may call from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service on Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.

Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery at Tamaroa, IL.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion.

Friends may make memorial to the Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
